A Nigerian defender Henry Obiekwu slumped and died during a friendly game in Enugu on Monday, February 13.
Obiekwu was playing in a friendly game with Samba FC on Monday, at the UNEC Stadium when he complained of a chest pain.
The former Enugu Rangers defender asked to be substituted but later slumped.
He was rushed to the Eastern Nigeria Medical Centre in Enugu where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The defender is the younger brother of ex-Nigeria international Kingsley Obiekwu who represented Nigeria at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
He started his playing career in 2003 with Hard Madrid FC of Ibadan an Amateur Division 1 club side.
His heroics earned him the nickname Obungwongwo as he single-handedly stopped 3SC of Ibadan from beating the amateur side for three seasons.
He joined Enugu Rangers in 2006 before moving to Lebanon where he played for one season.
He returned to Enugu again at the end of 2016 before his death.
He was capped once by the Super Eagles B team.
