Megastar songster, Adekunle Kosoko, aka Adekunle Gold, has achieved a major feat in his career as he's set to join the league of Nigerian artistes breaking grounds internationally.
The “ High ” chorister has officially inked with popular American music marker, Def Jam Recordings, Billboard reports on Tuesday.
This was made given in a statement by the company’s Chief Executive Officer/ Chairman, Tunji Balogun.
In the release, Balogun hailed Kosoko for his tunesmith, art, lyrics and showmanship.
“ I ’ve been following Adekunle Gold since I first heard his record ‘ Sade ’ in 2016, ” he said. “ Over the times, everything in AG’s world has elevated — his tunesmith has meliorated, the compass of his art has widened, his lyrics have strengthened, his approach to fashion is more distinct, and his showmanship and performance capability have grown exponentially, ”
“ He’s stepped into stardom on his own terms and is fully comfortable being his true tone. ”
Balogun revealed that he'd planned to bring Def Jam marker into the Afrobeats space as soon as be started working at the marker in 2022
“ Adekunle felt like the perfect fit – he ’d formerly done so important work on his own to make a base, but I knew that we could gauge his followership to an indeed bigger position if we combined our powers and worked together, ” he continued.
Gold also expressed excitement on subscribing with the marker, and getting to work with Balogun especially with their participated Nigerian roots.
“ He understands it, ” Gold said. “ So subscribing to Tunji makes sense. He’s like my plant chum that just comes far and wide I go. The day he does n’t have time to be there, I know he must ’ve been like stupidly busy. He’s great.
“ The track record is there. The history is there. They break artists, and they've niche, unique artists like me, so I suppose it’s the right move for me. All of the effects that I ’ve done for myself formerly, they know formerly and that’s why they ’re on board. ”
He's set to release a new reader under Def Jam in June, 2023.
