Chioma Akpotha, the Nollywood actress, has made a new disclosure about the movie, ‘ Gangs of Lagos ’.
She revealed that the patron of the crime suspenser, ‘ Gangs of Lagos ’ settled some residers of Isale Eko to allow them shoot the movie in the area.
Chioma who played Mama Ifeanyi, a request woman and mama of musician- cum- gang member; Ify aka Panamo in the movie bared in a recent interview on The Corner Shop Network alongside Tobi Bakre and Adesuwa Etomi- Wellington.
She said, “( rephotographing in the ghetto) Was n’t all fun. originally, there was a pushback. They( locals) were like ‘ No, you guys ca n’t do this. nothing is going to come then. also the other camps said ‘ This is our land ’. They were suchlike show us some love. You know what it means.
“ latterly, because we mugged for a little over 50 days. You know when you see someone constantly for day- to- day, two weeks, three weeks. So, we came like musketeers and also family to have them (locals) play some kind of places in the film. They were involved. It gave them so important joy and they did it with all of their hearts. Indeed though they were compensated, they wanted to do it out of love. ”
On her part, Adesuwa revealed that she was suckling her son during the movie shoot.
Adesuwa said, “ I've said this in multiple interviews that representation matters. And I like the fact that we're seeing further and further flicks that have women in strong places. Because I said before, the film has the implicit to shape minds, especially the mind of youthful people.
“ And I love that youthful girls got to see women in important positions. And the fact that I got to play a character like that was so important to me because a woman isn't only one thing. I love that we saw Gift’s feelings, I love that we saw her sexy, mannish. I love that we saw her fighting.
“ There are so numerous effects about a woman and that's one of the effects that really agitated playing this character. And at that time, I was suckling my son simply. ”
Tobi Bakre said the people on the thoroughfares verified to them that the movie epitomizes the true happenings on the thoroughfares.
