Ex Chelsea Star Mikel Obi Says How He Paid Crazy Money As Ransom For His Father’s Release From Kidnappers’ Den

 

 

John Obi Mikel, the former Nigerian and Chelsea midfielder, has made a exposure about his father’s release from kidnappers.


He bared that he paid some “ crazy quantum of plutocrat ” to get his pater , Pa Michael, out of the kidnapper’s den in 2018.

The football star made this known while speaking with Dubai Eye103.8 Sport.

His father, Pa Michael Obi was abducted along with his motorist, Ishaya John, along the Markurdi – Enugu road in 2018 while on their way from Jos in a slate coloured Toyota Prado jeep.

Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, had in 2018 said he was informed about his father’s kidnap about four hours before Nigeria’s final World Cup match against Argentina.

Mikel noted that he entered the shocking news while travelling on the platoon machine to the colosseum in St Petersburg.

According to him, a family member had called and told him that he'd to call the kidnappers on a designated number. After he did so, he was ordered to pay a rescue.

He further explained that although he was distrait by the news, he'd to put it away and play the match.

“ I was emotionally distrait and I had to make the decision about whether I was mentally ready to play. I was confused. I didn't know what to do but, in the end, I knew that I couldn't let 180 million Nigerians down. I had to shut it out of my head and go and represent my country first. I couldn't indeed inform the trainers or NFF staff and only a veritably tight circle of my musketeers knew.

“ I was told that they would shoot my pater incontinently if I reported to the authorities or told anybody. I also didn't want to bandy it with the trainer( Gernot Rohr) because I didn't want my issue to come a distraction to him or the rest of the platoon on the day of such an important game. As much as I wanted to bandy it with the trainer, I could not, ” he said.

still, days later, they were saved by the police, around 230 pm in Egede Udi timber of Enugu State.

“ The abductors also started calling the families to demand a rescue of N10 million but the operatives acting on intelligence information swooped on them. A gun dogfight replaced which forced the gangbangers to abandon their victims inside the timber and they were instantly saved, ” the police said in a statement.

Mikel Obi who bravely led the Super Eagles against Argentina four hours after he spoke with the kidnappers who abducted his father.

“ They( the kidnappers) said hear, we know, it's Mikel he'dpay.However, we're going to shoot his pater , If he does n’t. They said they had nothing to lose. They would shoot my pater and leave him nearly, ” Mikel Obi said.

“ It was horrible. After the game, I got back on the phone, tried to negotiate with them and spoke with them. They were calling some ridiculous quantum of plutocrat for a launch, and in the end, I still had to pay some crazy quantum of plutocrat to get my pater out.

“ Indeed now, I still go through it. Indeed when I got a flashback, I had to speak to the guys on the phone. There was a gunpoint at his head. They said they would shoot him, kill him. I haven't told my kiddies about it, but a many months agone , they looked at my phone and saw the news about it. Obviously, I haven't told them about it because they're youthful kiddies, 7 times, but one day when they grow up, I'll be suitable to partake the story with them, ” he said.
